The Poem: Transmutation

My regrets sink
down my spine
into depths
searching for bits
of mud and rock
to bury
my mistakes
and crush them
into something
silent
and unrecognizable.

Yet…

My heart pulls
up the Earth’s
dark warmth
through my feet
and into my body
until my imperfections
become
the largest cherry tree on record,
blossoms bursting forth
about to fall
into grace.
