The Poem: One to Bloom

I should be writing
the future,
but I falter
in the now

My imagination
boxed up
in spreadsheets of
artistic functions

Sums of worth –
formulas I don’t fit
each space
squeaking out

a song
I feel forced
to sing…
Let me out!

To consolidate
the sun with the cave
to be a fool
making shadows

on the wall
saving poppy seeds
through another
dormant snow.

All I want is:
myself & every-
thing & every –
one to bloom.
